There are so many reasons to love Harry Connick:
1. He's a MUSICIAN. Not just a singer. Played piano at age 3 and works closely with the boys in his Big Band--some of which he grew up with on Basin St. down in New Orleans. His types of music--jazz, blues and funk.
2. He's from New Orleans but unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to ask if he could take me back with him.
3. He's gwapo!
4. He's funny and kind of luko-luko.
5. He ate balut halfway through his show at the PICC!
This is the footage I was able to steal with my little TX1. In my heart, he's the one man Mardi Gras.

 | hahahahahahahahahaha! what a guy! I MISSED IT!!!!! :<) |
 | can't believe i missed this show!!! he is sooooooooo fine! a great character actor too, who could forget copycat? |
 | Thanks for sharing. Reliving the moment when his antics cracked me and the entire picc. :) |
 | hahaha! what a good sport! =)
what did he do after jumping down the stage? |
 | Really Eddie Boy, what a guy! I actually have more of his antics and music on that little trusty sneaky TX1 but this one pretty much tops it.
I feel bad I didn't get to meet him. (I wonder if Tim Yap did--he was there with MTV I think...sigh). I hope I get a chance to see him perform again. It was a two hour show but it was bitin. He said he had a repertoire of 200+ songs that he changes from city to city depending on the audience.
|
 | He actually sat in the audience section for a while, and the guys in his band and Harry himself threw some balut eggs at the crowd!
He got up to dance and did a lot of classics and while we all know this man has his original compositions if I'm not mistaken he focused his set that night on jazz and blues favorites. My quiet personal favorite, he did--"When Your Lover Has Gone" (this must have been a blues song from the 30's?) except that when he sings it, you don't feel so sad because you're just looking at this gorgeous, talented man and seeing him smile as he plays his piano and you're pretty much just in swoon mode.
Harry, balik ka dito! Kain tayo sa JT's Manukan! |
 | awww i should've watched the show! thanks for the stories, karen! =) |
 | was dying to watch but couldn't- so timely though because am actually shooting a docu for nat geo on... BALUT!!! thanks for sharing :))) |
 | The synchronicity of the balut. I wonder what it all means. Congratulations on your docu! Will visit your balut post after this. |
 | settle down... it was only a stunt balut. |
 | my wife and I had to make do with listening to Harry Connick on my PC the night of the concert :( watching Harry was a dream that was so near yet so far.
Harry Connick rules! |
 | ;-) and it wasn't really Harry Connick eating it (shhhh)
Hi Danny! |
 | cool:-)dont forget, he also did voiceover work for the animated film version of "THE IRON GIANT", originally known as the iron man, a little known concept album written and produced by pete townshend. by the way, are you gonna watch duran duran, and "the lost 80's" gigs? if yes, pls do post pics in here for me ayt? hava lovely summer indeed, boing! |
 | I'm actually not too sure about DD as I saw them in '88 and I may not be in town when they do perform. I wonder how much "make up" the boys'll be wearing though.

 | Well, not that I'm an endorser or whatever but if you use some Globe services you could have gotten 20-25% off on tickets for this show and that's what I did.
He did a lot of the classics, jazz favorites con mucho gusto--a very enthusiastic performer and just having great rapport with his big band. He didn't do the Harry Met Sally song. Though I looooooved when he did that 1930's song, "When Your Lover Has Gone." Ooooh. |
