U2 3D

Raise the roof and push the envelope! A fuller review will follow as U2 3D is the topic of my first column for the Manila Times since it temporarily closed in 1999.

My column, "Fangirl" appears each Thursday on the same day as Tim Tayag. This was such a fun experience, not to mention I watched it with people who were also getting such a big kick out of it. We did have to wait until it was nearly midnight as there were some technical difficulties in setting up rock and roll sensual assault.

U2 3D screens at the 8 storey tall SM IMAX THEATER and at SM North. My column appears on April 3rd.

I wasn't surprised to see you there! And it was worth the wait at least.

So between us we have Across the Universe, this and...the Martin Scorsese Stones film next?

Yes! It's a marvel to see how technology is able to bring the audience to this kind of film into an alternate reality. As far as I was concerned, I was in Buenos Aires.

i had a school of rock moment last night. "one good show can change your life" hahaha. and to think it wasn't even live. i had to fight the urge to scream and clap and faint.

Enjoy! I hope they got their technical difficulties sorted. We went in it was nearly midnight!

Opening day glitches but in fairness they were really apologetic to those who were waiting--drinks, posters, winks and whatnot.

I think this movie is going to be around for a while.

I'm pretty much a repeat offender when it comes to IMAX. And hey I'm always up for being immersed in a world of fish and hearing Johnny Depp's voice.

Awww, thanks. I wonder if I can get a series of inspiring fangirl moments every week though. That would be a dream come true wouldn't it?

It was fantastic!!! I just felt a bit bitin because I wanted to clap and cheer and dance! Sana may SRO area, like a pit, for people like us. ;-)

"Technical difficulties" Yeah, right! ;-) That kinda annoyed me that they used that phrase. It implies that it was an unavoidable delay and they're blameless. But yeah, at least they were apologetic and gave freebies. Making people wait an hour for a scheduled show is bad enough; making them wait till midnight is incredibly inconsiderate!

I hope Felipe can watch it before it ends. The sched just goes up to Sunday, and Belle said it was an expensive movie to bring in, so not sure how long the run will be.

I'm excited you have a column again! Hmm...dunno where to buy Manila Times. Are you allowed to post your articles after they've been published, or do they have it online? I want to read them all! Love your writing, Karen. :-)

Speaking of which, will you be at Alliance tonight?

Yep! Its the reason why I went to Stanley Ho Theater in HK -alone - Joon had classes that day kasi. When I read from the poster that Johnny Depp did a voice over, nanood agad ako the next day! The headset I got was good, it was like Johnny was whispering in my ear, heehee.

No I'm not at Alliance as it's my last session for my hosting workshop with Gabe Mercado. Things like that are really helpful considering the pirate crew finds itself in situations where hosting and interacting skills are valuable. I have to say Hank has this incredible strength when it comes to dealing with kids and ladies so I've also got to bring a couple of things to the table too.

I wanted to sing and jump up and down too!!!

I do think it would be alright for me to post them AFTER they've been printed. Though I'll have to check.

Which reminds me...what kaya will happen to me if I see Johnny Depp (not just hear him narrate) on IMAX. Pirates 4?

Oh Jovan, I think it's because you're focusing on the baby.

The are showing it at one of the Cinemas at SM North just not 8 storeys high, though I still opted for the big screen.

Gosh you're not the only who fought the urge...I guess there's still that part of the brain that still tells the one suspended in disbelief.."You're really not in Argentina."

But for the most part, the whole experience took me to another place.

I loved the mosh sequence!

I just realized -- I was so excited about U2 3D the other night, I forgot to do something very important! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Karen, for once again taking care of the organizing and buying tickets and making sure everyone was okay and getting us freebies and bringing cookies!!! You're such a great field trip mommy! ;-)

yeahhhhhhh! malas yung mga Hong Kong-ers na hindi marunong mag english. wala sila headset. sympre kami lang mga english-speaking ang meron. wawa, no voice of johnny bwahaha

Actually Johnny Depp could be speaking in French, Spanish or Esperanto to me and I would still love listening to it even if couldn't understand each word.

It's also a joy to hear Viggo speak Danish and Spanish. Siiiiiiiigh.
