for everyone

Hope this one gives you a good laugh!

I've been looking for this photo for quite a while. It was shot by Eddie Boy Escudero at the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati. Her Hard Rock Cafe show the same night was cancelled because the Mayor paddlocked the place.

Glad you like the booootay.

Alas I wish I could sing for ye...but it would rain. And people leave the room when I go on the Magic Sing.

See ya at the Good Ship Venus's gigs this year. I gotta let you have a listen to that song, my absolute favorite Sea Chantey.

OMG, I had no idea you had met! I remember in the 90s, EVERYBODY kept saying how much you looked like her. To this day, once in a while someone will say, if I mention your name, "Lisa Loeb?" So this photo is just precious!

I can't recall what happened...why was Hard Rock padlocked? So she wasn't able to perform at all? Sayang naman her trip here.

It's really quite bizarre and surreal looking at this now.

You know what they say about people having people who look like them in another part of the planet.

(Edie Brickell had a song about this).

Really funny.

I wonder how Eddie Boy felt when he snapped this. He's really busy shooting weddings now but I hope he can go back adn visit this blast from his photographer career past.

Yes well, one got the vocal talent the other got the talent for being a goofball. Happy New Year Janine!
nazgulqueen wrote on Jan 4
It wasn't entirely sayang. Because she came here, Eddie Boy was actually able to take this crazy shot!

I think Hard Rock got paddlocked because there were some extra "taxes" they didn't pay supposedly. It had just opened.

In another part of the greater Metro, I believe the same night, the Ozone tragedy happened. I could be getting my dates mixed up. A really creepy thing to remember March 19th (?) and this photo by as well.

Meron na! Try mo Comic Odyssey sa Robinson's Galleria in Ortigas or Robinson's Place in Malate. Meron din sa Planet X in Trinoma. Kung bukas pa ang Comic Quest sa Megamall (magrerenovate ata sila), meron din dun.

Hmmm, perhaps when she's back we can make her a pirate too ;-)

Actually, because of Jon Sideno, the song stuck in my head goes:

"do you eat, sleep, do you breathe me anymore?
do you sleep, do you count sheep anymore?"

And in the video she's doing laundry in goth clothes in the middle of the night, still looking like a nerd / geek girl.

I actually moved my set of WASTED correspondences away from the location of a recent TERMITE attack on my valuable photos and clippings (all my columns and newspaper articles!!!)

Except that I moved them to a top secret location I can't remember where now! Gotta find them.

It's kind of funny. Part of it is really the glasses though.

I actually still have that pair but hardly wear them. Bought them at a vintage store.

By the way, thanks for answering that pop quiz about Mao Tse Tung's wives. It was during my chocolate martini phase and I was in a discussion about the "Gang of Four" and we were debating on Mao's wives...and strangely enough, I was thinking, if anyone would know, it would be you. Of course I had also just learned you jumped back into your Master's Degree.

Happy New year.

I'm thinking of buying some of those airtight plastic boxes where I can store my letters, photos and other documents that would protect them from termites, surot, flooding and other things. I already store my old komiks and original art in such containers and I thought, why not also for all the letters I've received, which I consider more valuable with each passing day?

Letter writing is a dying art.

And I agree how precious those things are now. I love seeing how another person's handwriting looks, how their thoughts move from mind to hand to ink on paper. Doodles and scribblings on the side of the page.

I still like writing notes and such now.

And I do miss snail mail. While I enjoy email and multiply, I can still say I am happy to have lived a good chunk of my life in an era when I did wait for the post man to bring me lovely letters from far and not so far away. Things I could hold, paper I could soften with my hands, something I could read and look at again.

Now a lot of people I know read books in pdf format. I really still do love the smell and feel of fine bookpaper.

I'd love to see a bit more handwriting in 2008.

Oh, Karen, I couldn't agree with you more!

Ah, but I will never stop writing long hand, and loving the feel of the paper of my journals and reading a real book- pdfs just aren't the same (and I wouldn't want to curl up with my laptop and a cup of hot chocolate on a rainy afternoon, you know?).

Horrors about your termite problem- its heartbreaking to permanently lose those precious little things, I know first hand (though it wasn't a termite problem). Do those plastic bin things- well, as soon as you find your super secret hiding place!

To writing! To paper! To memories that one has proof of such as photographs and letters and journals!
nazgulqueen wrote on Jan 6
I know! I have your ONYX in a box. And even plastic bins and containers need constant monitoring and I believe some amounts of silica gel / dessicant to keep away moisture helps as well.

I'd actually love a mandatory one week without text messaging or YM or email. Just anything to get that exchange of the handwritten word going again, even for a while.

Just a bit of Analog over digital, for a while.
dizzychick76 wrote on Jan 6
now you get the idea. hehehehe.

I always feel people think I am nuts for still writing on paper and giving handwritten letters.

Have you seen David Duchovny's recent series Californication? Ripping off a Chili Peppers title aside, this series was fun. Puro sex! Sex and writing! Including an unforgettable bed scene with THE LITTLE GIRL FROM THE NANNY who is all grown up now.

Wasn't David Duchovny the narrator from the Red Shoe Diaries? That series of compiled soft porn short films?
